For most of the piece, sound design leads: a huge number of effects and a musical build-up that piles on tension towards an ending that arrives with the last explosion, when music and effects hit together. That ending drops into electronica in the vein of Justice or Ratatat.
The car’s sound is a hybrid between a purely electric motor and the roar of sports engines. The main challenge was designing the effects in great detail.
